My voyages; Cristina Morrison Summer 2010

Paris is under my skin.
Monumental, flirtatious, elegant Paris.
The gray hues have made peace with me in this long relationship of love and/or respect and/or indifference that I’ve had with her along the years. Now, I see it. This time around I have enjoyed her in another way.
Costa del Sol
Tarifa is a cool place to hang out. Easy, real, laid back place. Forceful and chilly Atlantic ocean and yes, very windy indeed. Windsurfers and kite surfers paradise. And yes, very handsome sportsmen!
The dunes at the end of the beach are fantastic to climb. Camel colored sand that is swirled by the wind from Africa right across the strait.
Moroccan mountains with a tinge of clouds on the horizon. Orange and pink sunset over modern windmills that adorn the hills in Spain like a crown to its Queen make for the alternative energy some of us are seeking in this future that is now.
Malaga old town for tapas and tintos de verano, exquisite roman theater ruins. The “chiringuitos” on the beach, specially EL Sardina is a place for a delicious feast of authentic seafood in every which way…y que venga ahora los boquerone’ frito’ y las sardinas (el espeto), unas coquillas y gambas, almejas y pescado en adobo. Yummy!
Sevilla, are we back in the Real Audiencia de Quito? We are so alike, meaning old colonial towns as in the Americas…Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, etcc….It’s amazing. I wonder why!?
Sevilla with it’s Spanish accent, alleys and beaituful arquitecture it’s easy to get lost in its guts.
Thought: Blues for the US, Pasillos and boleros for Latin America, Tango for Argentina is what Flamenco is for Andalucia. The the soul cries, weeps and yearns.
Today in Marrakech….it’s chants calling to prayer under Dante’s infernal heat in August. Palm tree dates, birds songs, warm terracotta colors across and sensuality suddenly abounds on this desertic land. Scents, colors, animals, heat..
Anecdotas:
Llevandolo a un extremo…En Sudamerica al casi igual que en Europa “Non si puo fare”. El famoso, “No se puede”, “No hay como”, “It can’t be done”.
Mierda!
More to come soon…
